We now have a registered Kindergartener for next year!

That is right NATHAN is all registered for school and even better at our FIRST choice school, Green Elementary! He is so excited because the mascot is a Ghecko! While Jacob is doing good at Miller (in fact his teacher told me he does not need a parent teacher conference because next week because she would just be having me come in to tell me that he is doing SO much better and is great! YEA JACOB!) but we feel like there are other schools like Green that have SO much more to offer. Green is a Magnet School. Here is what the San Diego School District site says about a Magnet School:
Attending a Magnet school is a choice students have in San Diego Unified School District. Magnet Programs attract students by offering unique opportunities for in-depth studies in specific areas of study while meeting rigorous California state curriculum standards. Each Magnet School has a theme that is imbedded in the schools curriculum. Some examples of SDUSD Magnet School themes are STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Music Conservatories, Communications and Multimedia Publishing, International Baccalaureate, Language Immersion, Visual and Performing Arts, Athletics and MicroSociety.

Green is an Athletics Magnet. On their website a little bit about them states:
Small class size, innovative teaching strategies, attention to learning styles and student access to computers are all key elements in the academic program at Green School . We pride ourselves in being able to meet the individual needs of students, whether they are gifted or have exceptional needs. The physical education teachers work closely with the classroom teachers to integrate the literacy framework throughout their activities. Our daily physical education program emphasizes "a personal best and lifelong active lifestyle" through participation in classes such as gymnastics.

We REALLY want both boys to attend Green. We put in applications for both but as of now only have a spot for Jacob. We have stressed over busing Nathan there while sending Jacob to one of the other choice schools or leaving him at Miller. If Nathan is at Green this year Jacob will get priority as a sibling next year. After a lot of thought we decided to go ahead and accept Green for Nathan because we know that it is the best option for him. He will have opportunities that he would not have at Miller such as PE 4 days a week including gymnastics and swim lessons. He has more access to computers. I honestly have NEVER heard Jacob talk about using a computer since we have gotten to California. How sad is it that one of his stations in Illinois was a lap top station?! and then he comes here and they may have one lab but thats it. We can't hold Nathan back because there is no spot for Jacob. We decided today that if Jacob is offered a spot at one of the other schools we loved we are going to deny it and keep him at Miller. I hate to move him three times in less than three years if we were to move him before next year and then try to send him to Green the following year. There is still a chance he could get an offer. There was just a tiny number of students for the 2nd grade that were offered spots. I believe 3 have not returned their paperwork but they have until Monday. I am praying they don't and that by some miracle Jacob is next on the list. Another "rumor" I have heard is they have a 2/3 combo class and they may do away with that and me it just a 2nd grade class. IF That were to happen then more spots would open more spots for 2nd grade. So please pray a spot opens up. If not we will deal with the two schools but I would be so much happier with them together at this great school with so much more to offer.

For now they don't know any different than being at different schools. Nathan has always had his preschool while Jacob had his school so they just think that is the way it goes. Nathan has orientation on June 9th. I can't wait to take him. He is so beyond ready to go even if I am unsure. It is going to be so strange only having Owen with me all day!

On a side note. The kennel has been broken out and the dog has a new home. He seems to like it so its working. Thank God.
