Ian took the boys to Lake Cuymaca today for a day of fishing. There was a free kids fishing derby today that we had heard about and decided it was the perfect day trip for Ian and the boys while Owen and I enjoyed a lazy day at home. They were up and off by 5:30 this morning and just rolled in at 8 tonight. Needless to say Nathan was passed out by the time they got home with his dinner still in his hands. I am pretty impressed by Ian. He did a great job documenting their day with the camera. The only downside is he has no pictures of himself with the kids:( But overall good job honey!
I have been told the kids are determined to eat their fish. I am not too sure how I feel about this but I will try it. I absolutely adore the one of Nathan holding the fish on the boat. I can't wait to hear about their day tomorrow when they are both coherent. They have been begging to go fishing on a boat for at least a year now (probably more from Jacob) so this really made them happy. Ian said they did really good considering the long day and never once complained of the heat with their life jackets.
Owen and I enjoyed a day consisting of me reading piled up newspapers while he watched Sprout (LOVE that channel!) and we took a nice hot walk to a garage sale being put on for a lady at our church. Then we both enjoyed a nice 3 hour nap! Yes BOTH of us. He was quite confused as to where his daddy and brothers were and asked me at least every hour if they were at "cool" (school). He will be happy for sure to see them in the morning.
Here are the pictures!

Owen's "big" boy bed
Last week Owen learned he can get out of his crib by scaling the side and hurling himself out of it. Needless to say this is not the safest thing especially half awake in the middle of the night. After much debate we decided to just get a small toddler bed and use his crib mattress. I really thought Jacob would want to be in his own room but he decided he wanted to stay with Nathan. So for now the rooms will stay as is. So, yesterday I got the bed (a steal of a deal off Craigslist) and I took down his crib and got it all set up while Ian was at work. Owen thought it was GREAT to PLAY in. He loved having Jacob cuddle and read stories to him. And he loved tucking in all his "friends".
When it came time to actually to go bed he was quite upset. It only took about a half hour and daddy's touch to get him to finally give in. He did wake twice during the night crying but I just had to get him back in bed and he was fine. I had to laugh when I checked on him first thing this morning and saw him laying upside down. Overall the first night was a success. I am however, dreading nap time here in an hour or so!

Happy First Day of School
I am going to try to keep this short because bath time and reading are calling this mommy's name and we are all exhausted! It has been a long but good day. Getting into this new EARLY routine is going to be tough but with adapting it will all work out:)
Ian took Nathan to his first day of school today and while I was sad I knew he was in good hands. Ian did his courtyard time with him where they did their Pledge of Alegiance, sang a patriotic song and talked about their monthly character trait (Respect) and then followed him to his class for a few moments before heading to school himself. I was quite stressed all day about him riding the bus and while it was a good 20 minutes late (we won't talk about all my new gray hair) he did make it home safe and sound. He said he had a bad day at first because he got "yelled at" by a teacher because he was hiding because he did not want to go to PE? But then got quite animated and loved the rest of his day. It is an adjustment for sure but he is going to do great. I am looking forward to picking him up from school tomorrow as it is his early day so I have the option to do so.
Waiting for Nathan to get home. What I thought would be 20 minutes turned into 45 and it was one long wait!
He is home safe and sound!!
Jacob had a great day. He is so emotional I am always am a bit worried to see how he is going to come out of his classroom. Today it was all smiles saying he had a great day and what a great picture he drew and that he was awesome at math and did great writing. How wonderful it is to hear him so positive about himself because it is a day to day struggle with his self esteem. Definitely put a smile on my face! I took him this morning and waited with him in line until his teacher brought him to his room. I was surprised that less than a 1/3 of the kids had no parents with them so as we walked I told Jacob I was going to leave him at his door. He asked why and I said well, if you want me to go in I will but I don't see many parents here do you want me to go in? He thought for a moment and replied with I guess not I may feel like a kindergardener. It gave me a good laugh. So with one last picture snapped at the door Owen and I were off on our own.
Bye mom! Walking into his new class.
Me and my biggest baby
Owen and Jacob waiting for the cattle gates, I mean school gates to open:) Owen was less than thrilled to be up let alone strapped into a stroller.
First in line for his class!
Owen has not been himself the past few days and has spent a lot of the days whining and crying. Not the most fun person to be around! So I kind of just spent the day with him playing and cuddling. I did get a good hour workout in during his nap YEA! That is a major accomplishment.
So tomorrow we do this all over again. Ian thankfully does not have to be in until 8 so I think he can take Nathan to the bus in the morning the rest of the week which means Owen can sleep until 7:15 instead of 6:15. Yea!
Here are a few extra pictures from meet the teacher days last week:
The picture above is of Nathan checking out the "fort" in his classroom. I took it when we went to check out his room last week. He thinks it is pretty neat.
The pictures below are of Jacob feeding Owen ice cream at Nathan's ice cream social and then Owen eating his own ice cream from Jacob's social less than two hours later. As I told the boys enjoy it because having that much ice cream in so short a time is not going to happen again anytime soon. I have to say while Owen was a total mess it sure kept him quiet!

I am not sure I am ready for this
To have two in school that is. Half of me is jumping for joy and the other half is really sad. I guess that is normal. I am seriously going to have issues when it is Owen's turn to go to school all day every day. I don't think I will mind preschool TOO much :) We have spent the last few days getting ready. Friday we went to both boys' schools to find out who their teachers are and see their classrooms. I was kind of hoping they would get male teachers but that was not the case. Nathan got Mrs. Delgado who is actually going to be out of the classroom the first week or two of school (not sure why) but we met his substitute, Mrs. Sarafino and she was very nice and welcoming. We saw where his chair is and he is excited because his teacher has a little fort in the room. I will post a picture after I gather them all tomorrow. We then had a ice cream social and Nathan got his very first school tee shirt. His mascot is a Gecko, which he is VERY excited about so its a pretty cool shirt. So far I have had nothing but awesome experiences with the school and staff. I am pretty excited that he is getting to go there even if I am totally freaked out about him riding the bus.
Jacob's teacher's name is Mrs. Georges. She also seemed very nice. When we went in we just happened to be the only ones in the room at the time and she gave him a big hug (HUGE for Jacob who craves affection) and walked him around the room. He was beyond thrilled to see the science things she had especially after she told him they will do a lot of science this year. That made his day for sure. He too had an ice cream social so the kids got two ice creams in a matter of hours. I told them to make sure and enjoy it because it would not be happening again any time soon:)
I am a bit heartbroken that I can't take them both to class tomorrow. There is no way I can get Nathan to school at 7:30 and Jacob back here by 7:55 to start. Thankfully Ian's instructor in school is allowing him to go in late so he will get to take Nathan tomorrow before heading in. It was a huge relief to me to get that worked out because there was no way I was going to stick him on a bus tomorrow morning, the very first day. He will have to ride it home and I can tell you I will be having a nervous breakdown until he gets off safe. I am sure he will do fine it is just the fact that its not just a few miles away. This is on the freeway and about a 20 minute drive. That is a big difference from Jacob riding the bus home 2 miles when we lived in Illinois.
A friend posted this poem on her facebook and I just had to share it. Ian and I cracked up when we read it. Change the wording to plural and I swear I should print it out and frame it and hang it on the wall somewhere in the house. I love my boys beyond words but there are some days.....I am glad they are in school:)
Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my son;
Love to forgive him;
And Patience for his moods;
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strength;
...I'll beat him to death!
Pictures tomorrow!!
